Rs 41.80 cr sanctioned for Basar temple development

Nirmal: The state government recently issued an order sanctioning a grant of Rs 41.80 to develop Basar’s famous Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam.

Chief executive of the temple Vinod Reddy said the government has sanctioned Rs 41.80 crore to develop the shrine. He said tenders would be launched to select a consultancy firm to carry out the work soon. He added that work would be started according to priority. Already funds of Rs 8.20 crore have been released in 2021.

According to the authorities of the abode of the Goddess of Wisdom, a compound wall would be built around the shrine and an additional floor would be built in a guest house. Similarly, sheds to provide shade to worshipers within the temple premises will be constructed with the help of the funds.

The consulting firm would prepare a master plan to undertake development activities. Endowment Minister Indrakaran Reddy, Commissioner, Spapathi, Engineering authorities and Sanctuary officials make a decision regarding the development works. As a result, work would be started at the earliest, an official said.

It may be recalled that the Endowments Minister, Indrakaran Reddy, had recently assured that he would endeavor to develop the temple, spending Rs 50 crore.
