SAN DIEGO — When Virgil Ward was named the new pastor of Logan Temple AME Zion Church in September 2018, he made it his mission to ensure the historic church found new ways to serve its local community. Now Pastor Ward is fulfilling his charge to God and his denomination by building homes for the people.
At below-market rents, these high-quality residences are designed by award-winning architectural firm 64North. The project will not only benefit the neighborhood, but will also help support the church financially, ensuring the church has a future as bright as its past.
“We are thrilled with our new family-oriented development, and in honor of LOGAN Temple’s incredible history of service to this community, we are calling it ‘Legacy Place.’
With Pastor Ward’s significant experience as a general contractor and builder, he has partnered with Martin Porter and his team at LOGOS Faith Development LLC to develop new townhouse-style homes for rent to local families in the community which are often being overpriced due to the relentless rise in rental rates.
Together, LOGAN, Pastor Ward and LOGOS have partnered to build over 11 3 and 4 bedroom family style homes and plan to begin construction soon.
Friday, May 20and to Sunday May 22n/aLOGAN Temple will host three days of events to highlight the upcoming development project and its plans to serve the community through its community development corporation.
Saturday May 21st At 11 a.m., Logan Temple AME will host various city officials and dignitaries, such as Mayor and Councilwoman Vivian Moreno, alongside the LOGOS Project Development Team and the Architectural Team, 64North. Everyone is welcome!
